English proper nouns are written in katakana, the syllabary used to write loan words. English words with equivalent meanings in Japanese are written in kanji (Chinese characters). Otherwise, they are written in katakana. Japanese words are written in kanji. Hiragana endings usually are not shown, and plural English nouns ordinarily are written as singular Japanese nouns.
